Alejandrina Pedro Castañeda

Curandera & Guardian of Traditions · Mazatec tradition · Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca

Alejandrina Pedro Castañeda is a guide of ancient Mazatec medicine, practicing in the heart of its cradle: Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca. She is a healer, poetess, and author of “The Spiritual Wealth of the Mazatec Culture,” carrying the wisdom of her ancestors into the modern world.

Her practice is a living stream where ceremonies with the sacred Teonanácatl mushrooms, healing through word, ritual singing, and educational projects for children intertwine. She also teaches at the international PRATI institute, where she instructs on ceremonial service and working with consciousness through sacred plants.

Her ceremonial work includes traditional Mazatec Teonanácatl rituals, healing through poetry and sacred chants, ritual cleansing through traditional rites, and the transmission of knowledge about teacher plants and ceremonial practice.

In her own words: “I do not help people out of force. I am a conductor of the force that lives within each person. My service is to remind a person of who they truly are. This is not a job. It is my prayer. Since childhood, I have heard the whisper of the water and the voice of the Earth. They taught me to listen to the Soul.”
