Tonalxayakatl

Chieftain, Shaman & Nagual · Aztec-Mexica tradition · Mexico

Tonalxayakatl originates from the peoples of Chiapas and Toluca and has followed the path of serving tradition for over 30 years. He is the Guardian of the Mushroom Altar and the Keeper of the sacred Tonalpohualli calendar. Throughout his life, he has led spiritual associations and taught the sacred arts rooted in pre-Hispanic Mexican tradition.

His practice carries an unusual depth. He studied at the College of Wushu and Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he trained in acupuncture and the understanding of Qi energy. He integrated this knowledge into his ceremonial work with temazcal, music therapy, and the sacred Teonanácatl mushrooms. Few practitioners carry both lineages with this level of commitment.

His ceremonies bring together dance, drums, and ritual to activate what he describes as ancestral memory. He works with the Tonalpohualli calendar for diagnosis and ceremonial guidance, and leads Teonanácatl mushroom altar ceremonies that draw on decades of continuous practice.

Tonalxayakatl sees his work as inseparable from service. His life has been dedicated to awakening consciousness through sacred ceremony, the elements, and healing plants. Everything he does is grounded in a belief that transformation happens not through teaching alone but through lived example and collective experience.
